What is the difference between milk kefir and water kefir?! And why is gut health so important?! This class will open your mind to the world of fermentation which is an ancient method for not only preserving our foods/drinks, but also increasing their nutritional value. Learn the how’s & why’s to kefir culturing (both dairy & non-dairy options) as we go through the process of first to second fermentation. Samples will be included in this class so that you can identify when your kefir has converted & explore different flavors of second fermentation and use of kefir in other recipes.
This class is the second of a 3-class series at The Happy Hen Homestead. Feel free to bring a blanket & outdoor clothing/shoes for a little nature exploration. Kids 5 & older welcome to come for some nature play! Handouts & samples included in the class registration.
Registration is $25. Kefir grains available for $5 per tablespoon.
